So…yeah. I finally got completely fed up with WordPress, and decided to shift littlespoon to another host (hence the month-long hiatus). Sorry it took so long; I wanted to make sure that this will be the last move this site will need to make, and that took time.

Hey everyone, couple of things:

Littlespoon has another new layout! What do you think?
Posting will probably be a little delayed again today (6/27). I’m traveling, and I’m sure WordPress (my server) will be swamped yet again due to all the Michael Jackson coverage. Bear with me through these next few days; I’m in the process of taking Littlespoon to a different server, but it takes a lot of work. I promise I’m not just neglecting the blog– I have a whole slew of articles already written and just waiting to be uploaded.
With school and work and life, I don’t always have enough time to dedicate enough to Littlespoon. Because of this, I’m looking for a few contributing writers to help me out. If you’re interested and/or want to learn more, please check the “Join” tab at the top of the page.
And last, but most certainly not least:
Check back here later today for another entry of The Grind. We’re catching up with Raw Milk, seeing what’s new, and also premiering another new song! Believe me, you want to listen.

Lead singer turns into a ‘Rain Machine’ {…}

Well, we kind of knew this was coming: the lead singer for TV On the Radio, Kyp Malone, has decided to go solo. The strange part? He’s calling his solo project ‘Rain Machine’. Weird name aside, the first Rain Machine album will be released later this year.

According to Pitchfork, Malone stated in a press release:

I’ve been writing and recording songs alone since I moved to NYC in 200, at first alone because I didn’t know anyone, then through the years by choice because of a particular freedom that going it alone afforded. I’ve played regularly since then, at first under the name Black Lights until some kids in Texas told me they were already using that name. Then under my own name, but I didn’t like how ‘Kyp Malone’ looked on mock ups of T-shirts and fliers, thus Rain Machine.

He describes the album as “A nearly full spectrum of frequencies audible to the human ear– a reflection of a variety of emotions and situations real and imagined, some rhythm and some rhyme.”

You can catch Malone on tour with TV On the Radio this summer.

(Perez Hilton twittered up a storm the other night, claiming he needed immediate medical attention because will.i.am.’s entourage attacked him after the Much Music Awards. Upon investigation, however, it was discovered that will.i.am. approached Hilton and told him to stop writing defamous things about the Black Eyed Pea’s. A verbal argument broke out and resulted in Hilton yelling: “I don’t need to respect you, and you’re a fag. You’re gay, and stop being such a faggot.” This has stirred up some controversy, especially because HIlton has given himself the title of crusading gay rights activist, and describes himself as the “queen of all media”. GLAAD (gay lesbian alliance against defamation) has called for Hilton’s public apology, stating “These are vulgar antigay slurs that feed a climate of hate and intolerance toward our community. For someone in our own community to use it to attack another person…is incredibly dangerous.”)

Flaming Lips announce tour, set LP title

Well, they’ve done it. As Pitchfork (and then we) reported last week, The Flaming Lips have indeed named their new LP Embryonic, and it will in fact be a double album.

No word yet on when the album will be released, but if you’re itching for some new material you do have an option: buy a concert ticket. That’s right, they’re going on tour, and for several dates they’re even offering a special bundle when you purchase a ticket: your ticket will come with a digital EP featuring three songs from the upcoming Embryonic, as well as three unreleased b-sides. And, after the show, you’ll also receive a digital bootleg of the show you just saw. Pretty fucking awesome.

Not sure yet how to buy tickets for most of the shows (as of yet they’re not announced on the band’s website or livenation/ticketmaster), but as soon as I know, you will too.
